San Luis Obispo Defenders is encouraging and requesting people who have criminal cases pending in San Luis Obispo County Superior Court to contact their court appointed attorney so that they may arrange to have their attorney make their future court appearances for them. The attorneys will also be reaching out to their currently assigned clients to limit people coming to court.
These measures are being taken in accordance with the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court’s directive to continue all non-time sensitive matters to a later date to minimize the public’s potential exposure to COVID-19.
People not currently represented by an attorney who are charged with a misdemeanor should contact the San Luis Obispo Superior Court to determine whether their arraignment date has been continued.

With the exception of domestic violence related charges, the Court will be rescheduling many misdemeanor appearance dates.
People accused of felonies must continue to appear in court and will be encouraged to waive additional time for future hearings and will be asked to sign a waiver of personal presence for future court dates.
